We are seeking a motivated, meticulous, and conscientious candidate with hands-on in vivo laboratory experience to join our dynamic group, supporting the team on a Tuesday to Saturday work schedule. You will contribute to the discovery of therapeutic antibodies from natural immune repertoires, and through teamwork, innovation, and mutual support, together we tackle the most challenging scientific problems.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintaining the lab space and restocking supplies for in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo activities
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for laboratory experiments
  • Ordering and organizing the distribution of materials to the central lab and storage locations using an inventory management system
  • Performing daily cage wash operations, including sterilization, and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous waste
  • Preparing cleaned cages with sterile bedding and enrichment items
  • food and water
  • Using laboratory glassware washers, autoclaves and ovens to clean and sterilize laboratory glassware and other labware
  • Preparing, labelling and aliquoting common reagents, animal diet food and treats
  • Transporting of samples between sites across Vancouver
  • Maintaining core lab equipment: freezers, pipettes and incubators
  • Maintaining SOPs
  • documenting and contributing to best practices
  • Coordinating activities with the rest of the lab management team and other labs
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment and lab facility, compliant with regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Able to work autonomously and take pride in being self-motivated
  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a research environment, preferably in vivo
  • A fast learner, team player, and creative problem solver
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills, and are known for accountability and reliability
  • Able to lift up to 25 kg, and are comfortable with long periods of standing and bending throughout the day
