Care Fertility Cardiff is seeking an experienced and motivated Embryologist to step into the role of Laboratory Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing embryology service within one of the UK’s most established and innovative fertility groups. As our Laboratory Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care, ensuring regulatory excellence, and shaping the continued development of our service. You will be a key member of both the Clinic Management Team and the wider Group Embryology Team—helping to drive quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, mentor, and develop the embryology team
Oversee daily laboratory operations and workload allocation
Ensure adherence to all SOPs, clinical protocols, and HFEA regulatory requirements
Act as Quality Lead, supporting audits and governance activities
Provide oversight for associated Super Satellite clinics
Conduct the full range of clinical embryology procedures
Maintain and audit cryostorage systems and manage disposals
Support the Care Fertility donor sperm bank
Contribute to capital equipment planning, stock control, and lab maintenance
Produce monthly performance data and contribute to clinical and NHS trust reporting
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure exceptional communication and patient support
Requirements:
Significant hands-on experience as a clinical embryologist
Proven leadership and team-management skills
Excellent understanding of HFEA regulations and compliance
Communicates clearly and works collaboratively across teams

Nice to have:
Acting as a Quality Lead or supporting internal audits
Experience with digital optimisation and modern embryology systems
