Job Description

As Laboratory Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day running of our embryology laboratories across Care Fertility Birmingham and Tamworth, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and exceptional fertility services. You'll oversee laboratory operations across both sites, co-ordinate workloads, support service delivery, and develop a high-performing team committed to excellence. You’ll take ownership of quality management systems, laboratory governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management, ensuring the laboratories consistently meet HFEA, HCPC, ISO and Care Fertility standards. You'll lead audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of quality and accountability throughout the team. As a key member of the clinic leadership team, you’ll contribute to operational performance, service development, and strategic objectives. Using data, insight, and expertise, you'll help drive improvements in clinical outcomes, patient experience, and laboratory efficiency. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll remain actively involved in embryology practice, supporting complex clinical cases and providing expert guidance to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team when required. Most importantly, you’ll play a vital role in helping our patients achieve their dream of building a family by ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care are delivered every day.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the day-to-day running of our embryology laboratories across Care Fertility Birmingham and Tamworth

Requirements

  • A senior HCPC-registered embryologist with significant experience in a licensed fertility laboratory
  • Previous Laboratory Manager experience, or substantial experience in a senior supervisory or leadership role
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of HFEA regulations, quality management systems, laboratory governance and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills with a meticulous attention to detail
  • A confident communicator who builds effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
