Job Description:

Lead strategic lab-equipment sourcing that powers innovation and elevates project performance. Proclinical is seeking a Laboratory Equipment Category Buyer for a contract role based in Switzerland. This position requires a minimum of three days on-site per week and focuses on leading sourcing activities for laboratory equipment within capital investment projects. You will act as a strategic partner to engineering and project teams, ensuring alignment between business needs and supply market capabilities while driving cost optimization, supplier performance, and risk mitigation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage RFx processes and vendor selection during project execution and early phases
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify current and long-term business needs, ensuring procurement activities align with business strategies
  • Develop and implement category strategies for laboratory equipment that align with supply market capabilities and business requirements
  • Align objectives, actions, and priorities within Procurement and with Global Engineering and other relevant teams
  • Work with stakeholders to create and execute cost reduction strategies that meet project and business needs
  • Provide leadership and change management support to drive productivity and efficiency improvements
  • Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) and development activities to ensure reliable supply and maximize supplier value
  • Monitor supplier performance through scorecards and performance metrics
  • Act as the primary point of contact for issue resolution and customer concerns related to projects
  • Address partner concerns in collaboration with Contracts and Claims managers
  • Develop and implement supply risk management strategies and mitigation plans
  • Ensure category strategies are integrated into project execution plans
  • Negotiate commercial terms, including Equipment Purchase Agreements and Framework Agreements
  • Plan, lead, and execute negotiations for major supply agreements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field with technical knowledge of laboratory or process equipment
  • Experience in procurement, particularly in global or regional category management roles
  • Background in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, or cosmetics is preferred
  • Proven ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies with measurable results
  • Expertise in CAPEX equipment, especially laboratory equipment like analytical instruments, heating/cooling systems, filtration systems, and more
  • CIPS certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Fluent in English
  • proficiency in German and/or French is highly advantageous
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of procurement's role in CAPEX projects
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in contract drafting and project management
  • Ability to manage change, onboard new vendors, and implement value engineering ideas

Nice to have:

  • CIPS certification or equivalent
  • Proficiency in German and/or French
