Job Description

The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for running safely, compliantly, and efficiently translating operational discipline into higher experiment throughput, reduced downtime, and reliable supply of critical materials. The role blends hands‑on lab support with vendor, inventory, and equipment stewardship so scientists can focus on science while the lab stays audit‑ready and cost‑effective.

Job Responsibility

  • Support smooth daily lab operations through continuous workflow optimization, lean/5S habits, and maintaining an organized, compliant laboratory environment
  • Manage laboratory equipment lifecycle including procurement, commissioning support, preventive maintenance/calibration coordination, and maintaining audit‑ready documentation
  • Oversee supplier and inventory processes by placing orders, tracking orders, materials, lead times, handling returns and follow up CAPAs, as well as maintaining accurate ERP/LIMS/EAM data for consumables and equipment
  • Ensure biological and quality compliance by following SOPs, GLP/GDP/GMP‑aligned documentation practices, conducting safety instructions/audits, and supporting adherence to DGUV/TRGS requirements
  • Enable effective communication and capability building by preparing lab performance reports, organizing lab‑related meetings, and training new staff on procedures, safety, and documentation standards

Requirements

  • Educational background in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Culture, or relevant technical training (BTA/CTA/Lab Technician) with industry experience
  • 2–5 years of hands-on lab experience in biological, biochemical, chemical, or analytical environments, with solid understanding of lab workflows and methods
  • Operational excellence in lab management, including equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, and overseeing service providers
  • Procurement and inventory skills, including order processing, stock control, and interactions with suppliers for consumables and equipment
  • Strong documentation, attention to detail, structured work style, and effective communication with lab teams, QA, and external partners
  • Fluent in both German and English
  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 10kg and drive a pallet truck
