The Visual Learning Lab, directed by Dr. Bria Long, is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to begin in Summer 2026, with a flexible start date. The lab uses behavioral and computational methods to investigate how we learn to derive visual meaning.
Job Responsibility:
Hands-on data collection with infants and children, both in the lab and at local partner sites
Planning and executing testing sessions, including developing and implementing participant schedules, interacting with families, and ensuring high-quality data collection
Managing participant records and maintaining compliance with IRB protocols
Building skills in experimental design, data analysis, computational methods, and scientific communication, including co-authorship on publications and presentations
Participating in weekly lab meetings and the broader intellectual life at UCSD
Requirements:
Experience interacting with parents and working with infants or children, preferably in a research or professional setting
Familiarity with basic computer programming and ability to quickly learn new technical skills
Demonstrated skill interacting with colleagues and other adults in a professional setting
Strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail
Highly self-motivated, able to solve problems independently and with initiative
Written communication skills needed for corresponding with families and coordinating with colleagues
Experience assisting with behavioral or cognitive neuroscience research
Ability to manage multiple schedules and coordinate participant testing independently
Must have reliable transportation for commuting to offsite testing locations
