Job Description:

Northridge Hospital Medical Center invites a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our fast-paced Microbiology team as a Lab Assistant Tech. This role is crucial in upholding our laboratory's commitment to delivering precise and prompt diagnostic testing for our patients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Accurately process all types of microbiology samples onto the appropriate culture media
  • Perform routine procedures such as plating, streaking, and inoculation
  • Assist with the preparation of reagents and media, and ensure the proper preparation and sterilization of laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Collect, process, and label patient samples following established protocols
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records and documentation for all laboratory activities
  • Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and regulations

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations
  • Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) must be obtained within 90 days required

Nice to have:

  • Six (6) months of laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility
  • CA Phlebotomy License
