Job Description:

Carex is partnering with a BioTech industry partner to identify a Laboratory Assistant II to support daily operations in the Phoenix (PHX) laboratories. This role provides essential support in sample processing, laboratory upkeep, and operational tasks within a high-throughput environment. This is a 4mo contract role with potential for extension/conversion. This is a second shift position and the hours are Tues-Sat 10am-6:30pm.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist laboratory personnel with patient sample processing and other daily laboratory operations
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, equipment, and clean laboratory materials, racks, and glassware
  • Perform laboratory decontamination and follow proper storage and disposal protocols for samples and materials
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment per manufacturer specifications
  • Re-stock and distribute laboratory supplies to work areas as needed
  • Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned
  • Apply effective oral and written communication in collaboration with team members
  • Uphold company mission, values, and Quality Management System policies
  • Work designated schedule, including nights, weekends, and potential mobile or computer-based tasks
  • Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, vortexes, refrigerators, freezers, water baths, and heat blocks
  • Safely handle chemicals and comply with personal protective equipment requirements
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance while functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s Degree in a scientific field preferred
  • 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including internet navigation and email usage
  • Ability to perform essential laboratory duties with or without accommodation
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform duties in both seated and standing positions
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
