Job Responsibility:
The objective of this internship project is to design and implement a comprehensive Excel-based lab management tool to improve planning, traceability, and resource utilization in the Mechanical–Optical Laboratory at the IOL manufacturing site. The tool will: Centralize lab data on disposables, equipment inventory, calibration schedules, and operator qualifications. Enable smart test scheduling where bookings are driven by test methods and automatically check: Operator qualifications for each method
Equipment availability and calibration status
Estimated test duration to support realistic time planning
Prevent operator overbooking by using the estimated time per test to balance daily workload and ensure capacity is not exceeded
Provide day-to-day and weekly planning dashboards, summarizing scheduled tests, resource utilization, and workload distribution
Requirements:
Year 3 or 4 of HBO/ BSc in Data Science, ICT, Business analytics, Business Administration or Systems Engineering
Excellent Analytical skills
Strong problem-solving skills
High degree of accuracy
Stress resistance: Able to remain calm and positive under pressure
Innovative: continuous innovation of the work processes and working environment
Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Nice to have:
You have knowledge of data analytical tools such as Excel, you speak Dutch or English and can start in February.
