Gates Corporation is seeking a leader in Employee & Labor Relations to lead Gates’ labor relations strategy in our Legnica plant, acting as the main liaison with unions and employee representatives while ensuring compliance with local laws and collective agreements. It supports collective bargaining, manages labor risks, and guides HR teams on negotiations and employee relations.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute labor relations strategies aligned with corporate objectives
Advise on union engagement and collective bargaining tactics
Serve as primary liaison with HR teams, leadership teams, trade unions, works councils, and employee representative bodies
Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and employee representatives to anticipate and address labor issues
Collaborate with the EMEA and Global HR Center of Excellence to align policies and share best practices
Monitor industrial action risks and prepare mitigation plans
Prepare regular reports for local and regional leadership on status of negotiations, disputes, and compliance
Lead or support collective bargaining negotiations (wage, redundancy plans, collective labor agreements, etc.), including preparation of proposals, negotiation mandates, support analytics, and communication materials
Coach local HR team and managers on negotiation techniques and best practices
Draft and review collective agreements, memoranda of understanding, and side letters
Ensure adherence to local labor laws, collective agreements, and works council regulations
Partner with Legal to interpret new legislation and assess business impacts
In coordination with the relevant departments, support the preparation and submission process of all legally required employee relations statutory reporting, including Pay Transparency Reporting
Assess, recommend, and implement policies and practices as needed to meet the needs of the organization
Collaborate with internal stakeholders regarding communication and implementation of policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable local employment laws and regulations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field
Master’s degree or specialized certification in European level Labor Relations is highly desirable
8-10 years of progressive labor/industrial relations experience within multinational manufacturing organizations, covering Poland
Experience in M&A activities from an Employee & Labor Relations perspective is highly desirable
Exceptionally strong negotiation skills, with proven track record of leading collective bargaining processes and union negotiations
In-depth knowledge of Polish labor laws, European Works Council regulations, and EU social directives
Fluent in English & Polish (mandatory)
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated capability to work across diverse cultural and legal environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel ~30% of the time
Nice to have:
Master’s degree or specialized certification in European level Labor Relations
Experience in M&A activities from an Employee & Labor Relations perspective
