Job Description:

The Labor Relations Manager is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for leading labor relations initiatives, fostering positive employee relations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and collective agreements. This position is ideal for a results-driven professional with proven expertise in labor relations who is eager to make a meaningful impact in a unionized environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary contact and subject matter expert for all labor relations issues, including negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations
  • Provide expert guidance to HR Business Partners, managers, and supervisors on labor relations matters and collective agreement interpretations
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations with union representatives and address labor-related issues effectively
  • Investigate and resolve grievances and disputes promptly, fostering a collaborative and productive workplace
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in labor laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and communications for senior management and stakeholders regarding labor relations activities
  • Support, coach, and manage the HRBP team to ensure professional development and alignment with organizational goals

Requirements:

  • At least 2–3 years of proven experience in labor relations, including bargaining, grievance handling, and arbitrations
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian labor laws, human rights, and employment legislation
  • Strong skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing and coaching team members effectively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce is an asset) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
