Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Labor & Employment Law Research Specialist to join our team in San Diego, California. In this contract to permanent position, you will play a critical role in researching and analyzing changes in labor laws and regulations while ensuring compliance across various jurisdictions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in legal research and a passion for employment law.

Job Responsibility:

  • Track and monitor updates to federal, state, county, and city labor laws, regulations, and agency guidelines
  • Conduct thorough research on regulatory changes from key agencies and compile findings into actionable insights
  • Develop and maintain internal resources, such as databases and libraries, to ensure accessibility of labor law information
  • Prepare accurate summaries and comparisons of legislative and regulatory updates
  • Draft and revise compliance documents, policy memos, and reference materials for internal use
  • Collaborate with teams across compliance, operations, and product divisions to address legal impacts and implementation requirements
  • Assist with audits and compliance reviews by providing necessary legal documentation and references
  • Create training content and communication materials to inform stakeholders about legal updates
  • Write articles, blogs, and white papers to educate internal and external audiences on labor law developments
  • Compile legal news and court rulings into periodic digests or newsletters for distribution within the organization

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field
  • Certification as a paralegal from a recognized program or organization
  • At least one year of experience conducting legal research, preferably in labor or employment law
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or government databases
  • Familiarity with subscription-based legal alert services and regulatory feeds
  • Strong skills in Google Workspace tools, including Docs, Sheets, and Drive, for collaboration and documentation
  • Ability to use Excel or Sheets for tracking updates and managing timelines effectively
  • Solid understanding of labor laws, including federal and California-specific regulations
