Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Labor and Employment Paralegal to join our team on a contract basis in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. This position requires a proactive individual with expertise in litigation processes and employment law to support attorneys in managing a variety of legal tasks. If you have strong organizational skills and a solid background in civil litigation, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful legal work.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive assistance to attorneys throughout all stages of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
  • Handle document management tasks such as collection, review, production, and tracking during discovery
  • Prepare essential trial materials, including deposition binders, exhibits, and witness files
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring deadlines and court schedules are carefully managed
  • Coordinate communications with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors to facilitate smooth case progression
  • Draft and file legal documents with state and federal courts, adhering to all procedural requirements
  • Assist in compiling employment-related administrative filings and compliance documentation as needed
  • Monitor and utilize case management software to ensure efficient tracking and reporting of case details
  • Support attorneys in trial preparation by organizing key materials and providing logistical assistance
  • Contribute to resolving backlog work by managing assigned priorities effectively

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with a focus on labor and employment law
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and discovery processes
  • Proficiency in drafting and filing legal documents in both state and federal courts
  • Experience in preparing trial materials, including exhibits and witness files
  • Familiarity with case management software for tracking and organizing case details
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage deadlines and complex case files
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and external parties
  • Knowledge of labor and employment law is strongly preferred

  • On a routine basis, provide tactical and strategic legal advice and counseling to HR leadership, including advice on handling performance or conduct concerns of high-level employees, employment law implications of operational decisions, ensuring compliance with unique state and local laws, and proactively addressing potential legal risk.
  • Review and provide guidance on HR or employment related contracts and agreements to ensure that vendors and partners are required to comply with relevant employment law and Circle K requirements, compliance with Circle K’s internal contract requirements, and that internal partners understand the terms of the contract.
  • Draft, review, and provide advice on a host of employee agreements, including severance and separation agreements, offer letters, and accommodation agreements.
  • Partner with business units and HR teams to internally handle employment law claims, including demand letters, administrative charges, and administrative investigations by advising on investigating the claims, documenting findings, and developing responsive documents.
  • Retain and manage outside counsel for lawsuits and employment law claims that business units and HR teams are unable to handle internally.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in HR operations and processes to notify HR teams and leadership, develop solutions to ensure legal compliance, and define the legal risk if gaps are not addressed and ensure leadership is aware of the risk.
