Job Description:

A sophisticated boutique litigation firm is seeking a California licensed attorney with 3+ years of employment defense experience to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for the employment attorney to work closely with experienced partners on high-level matters in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. We have placed attorneys with this firm who are happy with the quality of work, low billables and culture. Job Responsibility:

  • Handle employment defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft and respond to discovery, motions, and pleadings
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and client meetings
  • Assist with case strategy and trial preparation
  • Manage wage & hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and PAGA matters

Requirements:

  • Active California Bar license
  • 3+ years of employment litigation defense experience
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage cases with increasing autonomy
  • Experience with law and motion, discovery, and depositions preferred
  • Trial preparation experience is a plus
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing employment law on the defense side
  • Active membership in the California Bar
  • Demonstrated background in employment litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and court appearances
  • Strong legal writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, compelling advocacy documents
  • Experience handling civil litigation matters independently and managing deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior attorneys while also taking ownership of assigned matters
  • J.D. from an accredited law school

Nice to have:

  • Experience with law and motion, discovery, and depositions preferred
  • Trial preparation experience is a plus
