We are looking for a skilled Labor and Employment Attorney to provide comprehensive legal support to clients on a variety of workplace matters. Office is located in Baltimore County, and this is a HYBRID opportunity (2-3 days in office) once acclimated. This role involves drafting key employment documents, advising on organizational policies, and ensuring legal compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in reducing risk exposure and guiding clients through complex HR and legal challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Draft and review employment agreements, severance agreements, employee handbooks, and workplace policies
Provide strategic guidance on onboarding processes, employee accommodations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
Counsel clients on employee classifications, regulatory compliance, and workplace best practices
Conduct workplace assessments to identify and mitigate potential legal risks
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Deliver training to managers on employment law and workplace management practices
Advise on and handle workplace investigations, including drafting position statements for administrative agencies
Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and litigation
Offer crisis management support for unexpected HR and legal issues
Collaborate with governing boards, providing insights on by-laws and board governance dynamics.
Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience advising clients on HR matters and handling employer-side defense cases
In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, with a focus on employer representation
Active Maryland bar license
additional bar memberships, such as D.C., are highly desirable
Strong understanding of workplace culture and the ability to tailor legal advice to individual client needs
Experience working with governing boards and understanding board governance principles
Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills
Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and provide actionable recommendations
Familiarity with administrative hearings and litigation processes.
