Provide lab support for customer and new product development projects related to automotive, transportation and industrial coatings (including plastic, powder and leather coatings). Evaluate new and existing additives for performance behavior and structure property relationships through application testing in automotive, transportation and industrial coatings (including plastic, powder and leather). Support new business development, innovation, and customer projects requiring skilled spray application of paints and coatings.
Job Responsibility:
Processing of laboratory projects for customers and research topics in coordination with the Regional ART Head AMR for INT & responsible INT experts for the Industrial & Transportation Coatings sector
Implementation of experiments in the context of I2P projects, in coordination with regional ART head and responsible INT experts and under the guidance of the project owner
Preparation of technical documentation and comparative studies for existing and new projects with competitor products under the guidance of the ART Head and in exchange with a regional expert
Support in ensuring a safe working environment, cooperation with the team manager and colleagues in complying with EHSQ guidelines and identification of potential for improvement
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred with 1 year of experience in chemistry or chemical engineering or related discipline or an Associate’s degree with 2 or more years in technical laboratory experience, process optimization and data analysis experience
Position requires ability to formulate, make and spray apply coatings samples in the lab with minimal supervision
Position requires practical laboratory technical skills and ability to set goals to work independently in conducting experiments, organizing data and analyzing results
Experience with chemical and process safety requirements and the aspects of Design Hazard Review/Process Hazard Review/HAZOP for hazardous operations
Computer proficiency required with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet capabilities and ability to learn BYK software suite for analytical test equipment
Possesses effective and convincing technical writing presentation skills, as well as the ability to present data using multiple data visualization tools
Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and program a spray application robot and other test equipment related to corrosion and weathering testing
The ability to effectively work with diverse, multi-cultural technical colleagues from all backgrounds
Time and resource management skills are required
