Job Description:

A leading and successful provider of analytical testing and Forensics services are currently seeking A Technicians to join their Forensics Lab in Derbyshire, initially on a temporary basis. Ideal for Graduates of Forensics, Chemistry, or related disciplines, Or if you have good basic lab skills.

Job Responsibility:

  • Initially focusing on basic responsibilities with a view to progressing to more complex responsibilities once trained
  • Conduct examinations of submitted exhibits, prepare samples for analysis and process results
  • Ensure all work is conducted in line with relevant regulations and standards such as UKAS ISO17025, GLP and Forensic Regulators codes of conduct

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Forensics or Chemistry related discipline is highly beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience within a lab environment highly beneficial but not essential
  • Must be highly motivated, with great attention to detail and problem-solving capability, excellent communication skills and a strong appreciation for the principles of quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be immediately available to begin immediately
  • Due to security clearance checks – you must have been based in the UK for the last 5 years

  • Maintain meticulous chain of custody documentation to guarantee the legal defensibility, security, and integrity of all physical and digital evidence
  • Perform forensically sound acquisitions and preservations of digital media across diverse platforms, including workstations, servers, mobile devices, and tablets
  • Triage and fulfill evidence handling and system requests via Jira, ensuring rapid resolution and consistent adherence to internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Evaluate, test, and validate emerging forensic hardware, software, and methodologies to continuously enhance lab capabilities and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the forensic lab’s high-performance computing and secure storage infrastructure
  • Design and administer comprehensive training modules via Litmos to educate staff on evolving lab workflows, security policies, and forensic systems
