Job Description

We are looking for a Lab Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day laboratory operations. This role owns procurement, inventory, equipment maintenance, documentation, and vendor coordination. You’ll maintain high standards for safety, compliance, and organization while managing budgets and supporting ongoing lab improvements. Responsibilities also includes onboarding new team members, helping lead student laboratory assistants, and fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive lab culture that enables high-quality scientific work.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive daily lab operations: procurement, inventory management, optimization of laboratory organisation and renovations
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, building management, maintenance and other providers
  • Create, maintain and manage excellent documentation practices, including compliance with relevant safety standards and permits
  • Ensure timely maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment
  • Manage the laboratory budget and invoicing
  • Introduction of new employees to safety regulations and laboratory working culture
  • Involved in leading a team of diligent student laboratory assistants
  • Foster a safe, positive and inclusive working environment across lab teams

Requirements

  • Education within microbiology, biochemistry, fermentation, biotechnology or a related scientific area
  • Laboratory operations experience: you have experience from running the day-to-day lab with confidence – building structure, setting priorities, and keeping things moving (inventory, documentation, vendors, scheduling, coordination)
  • Highly structured and detailed-oriented person, with the ability to juggle many balls at once
  • A self-starter, who takes initiative / proactive approach with positive, solution-oriented mindset and can-do attitude
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, setting standards and making sure ways of working are followed
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a quality mindset by bringing consistency and reliability in everything you do
