The Pronobis Lab in the Department of Biology at the University of Denver is seeking a highly motivated Lab Manager / Zebrafish Facility Manager with a Master's degree in Biology or related field. The successful candidate will manage daily operations of a zebrafish research facility and support research focused on heart regeneration in adult zebrafish. This role requires strong organizational skills, experience with aquatic systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across research teams.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the zebrafish facility, including husbandry, breeding, record keeping, and health monitoring
Maintain facility equipment and supplies
coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance
Support research experiments, including fish line management, crosses, injections, and sample collection
Train and supervise undergraduate and graduate researchers in zebrafish techniques
Implement and enforce facility safety and animal care protocols
Manage general lab operations: ordering supplies, inventory management, coordinating facility space, waste disposal, and compliance
Collaborate with researchers to optimize protocols and troubleshoot experimental challenges
Maintain accurate documentation for animal use protocols and facility records
Requirements:
Master's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, or related field
Experience with zebrafish husbandry and aquatic facility maintenance preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a dynamic research environment
Familiarity with basic lab techniques and safety procedures
Nice to have:
Experience managing laboratory facilities
Animal care certification or experience with IACUC compliance
