This position is located at the ACTRI, in Dr. Case’s lab (CASELaboratory.org) in the Department of Anesthesiology. Under supervision of Dr. Case, the incumbent will assist with basic laboratory operations and conducting several NIH funded clinical trials involving healthy volunteers and chronic pain patients.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with basic laboratory operations and conducting several NIH funded clinical trials involving healthy volunteers and chronic pain patients
Routine laboratory maintenance
Support for personnel
Conducting remote and in-person psychophysical and brain imaging studies including a study of noninvasive nerve blocks during MRI
Recruit and screen study participants
Collect and analyze data from human participants
Assist with the preparation of regulatory communications such as for the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Train and help oversee undergraduate students who volunteer with the lab
Assist with training and onboarding of new lab members
Requirements:
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and two years of laboratory experience
or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of safe human testing procedures (CITI training
experience with IRB)
Requires skills in data management and coding including E-prime, R, and FSL
Ability to follow written and verbal directions
Knowledge of personal computer programs including word processing, basic computer coding, SPSS, Word, Excel, unix
Ability to adhere to established UCSD guidelines for safety and environmental issues
Must be able to work effectively with human volunteers and patients
