The Senior Officiating Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective integration, operational performance, and continuous improvement of SAOT across La Liga MX. This role sits at the intersection of elite officiating, live match operations, and sports technology, with a strong emphasis on match-day performance, stakeholder confidence, and operational consistency, rather than commercial or financial ownership.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the integration of SAOT into La Liga MX match operations, ensuring alignment with league protocols, refereeing workflows, and VAR processes
Oversee live match-day operations to ensure consistent system performance and effective decision-making support
Act as the primary operational escalation point for SAOT-related issues and incident management
Ensure operational readiness across venues, match rounds, and officiating teams
Enforce quality assurance standards and governance protocols across all SAOT systems and processes
Maintain, review, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
Lead post-match and post-season reviews to identify trends, risks, and improvement actions
Ensure compliance with league regulations, competition protocols, and data protection standards relating to athlete and match data
Work closely with Liga MX, FMF, refereeing committees, and competition officials to ensure SAOT supports referees effectively and consistently
Support referee education, briefings, and confidence-building around SAOT workflows and decision-making
Act as a trusted liaison between officiating stakeholders and Genius Sports internal teams
Support sensitive communications relating to operational performance, incidents, or change
Lead and develop SAOT operational managers, operators, and technical staff
Foster a high-performance culture aligned with elite officiating standards
Monitor operational KPIs and performance indicators, providing structured reporting
Support training and professional development to ensure teams remain current with technology, processes, and the Laws of the Game
Serve as the operational interface between Officiating, Product, and Engineering teams
Ensure live-operations feedback from La Liga MX is captured and reflected in product improvements and system evolution
Support testing, upgrades, and controlled changes in live and pre-live environments
Requirements:
Fluent in Spanish and English
Proven experience working in elite football officiating or officiating operations, ideally within professional or international competitions
Strong understanding of Law 11 (Offside) and how technology supports decision-making within VAR or comparable officiating systems
Demonstrated experience operating in high-pressure, broadcast-critical sporting environments, requiring calm, accurate real-time judgment
Strong leadership capability, with experience managing teams and complex operations
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
Strong operational mindset with a focus on consistency, quality, and continuous improvement
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical, product, and engineering teams
Willingness to travel internationally and work flexibly around match schedules
Nice to have:
Background as a professional or elite-level Referee or Assistant Referee
Experience working within sports technology, broadcast technology, or performance analytics environments
Familiarity with FMF, CONCACAF, or international refereeing structures
Experience supporting the launch, stabilisation, or scaling of officiating technology in elite competitions
