Job Description:

GMS (Greenlake Management Services) L3 Vmware Virtualization SME role operating as the Subject Matter Expert and Single Point of Contact for VMware technologies within Private Cloud offering. The role involves driving escalations to closure, leading complex troubleshooting efforts, ensuring stability and optimal performance of cloud environments, and mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid work environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for VMware technologies within Private Cloud offering
  • Drive escalations to closure
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts
  • Ensure stability and optimal performance of cloud environments
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Supporting and troubleshooting complex Vmware/Virtualization issues in complex and widely distributed environment
  • Own an escalation, demonstrate leadership and be the designated point of contact for the Technical Escalation Process
  • Serve as the technical escalation lead, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and vendor support
  • Automate operational tasks using scripting and orchestration tools
  • Maintain high-quality documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, RCA reports, knowledge articles, and best practices
  • Lead communication between technical teams, customers and internal organization
  • Share Datacenter 'Best Practice' among other Technology peers & Teams
  • Communicate Technical action plan, drive internal HPE Technical Teams/Customer/Partner communications
  • Work after office hours to manage critical customer escalations when necessary
  • 24x7 availability as required for 'Out of Hours' (OOH) coverage

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience in Vmware troubleshooting including service and support on Virtualization, vSAN, NSX, VCF
  • Ability to isolate and solve complex technical/business problems with the ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and managing VMware-based virtualization
  • Expert-level proficiency in designing VMware environment based on Performance Requirement
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or VMware PowerCLI
  • Strong experience in Upgrading VMware components and tackling Issues during upgrades
  • Expert-level proficiency in designing customer Workload specs based on the requirements from application
  • Expert-level proficiency on Storage and network protocols supported by VMWare
  • Fundamental Knowledge on Hardware, Network and Storage concepts
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing principles and architectures, including private, public, and hybrid cloud models
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) would be a plus
  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Remote Support and Remote monitoring processes and concepts
  • Knowledge on Service Now
