We are seeking a Qualified KS2 SEN Lead Teacher to join a flagship specialist school in Cambridge. This is a pivotal role for an experienced practitioner who possesses both "classroom magic" and the professional maturity to take on leadership responsibilities. You will lead a Key Stage 2 cohort of students with complex needs-primarily Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)-while serving as a pedagogical mentor for other teachers and support staff.
Job Responsibility:
Departmental Innovation: Oversee the adaptation of the KS2 National Curriculum for specialist learners, ensuring it remains ambitious, tactile, and sensory-aligned across the department
Team Mentorship: Lead, observe, and support a team of teachers and TAs, modeling best practices in Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and de-escalation
Communication Leadership: Champion a "Total Communication" environment, integrating Makaton, PECS, and high-tech AAC devices into the daily departmental routine
Strategic EHCP Management: Coordinate Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews for your cohort, ensuring that "small-step" milestones are rigorous, measurable, and clearly communicated to families
Intervention Coordination: Direct the delivery of specialist interventions such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), Lego Therapy, and Sensory Circuits
Multidisciplinary Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), OTs, and Educational Psychologists
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory
Proven Leadership Experience: Experience as a Subject Lead, Phase Lead, or Senior Teacher within an SEN or highly inclusive mainstream setting
Specialist Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of Zones of Regulation, SCERTS, or TEACCH frameworks
Analytical Skills: The ability to use data (even non-linear SEN data) to drive student progress and departmental improvement
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one)
