We are seeking a Qualified KS2 SEN Teacher to lead a classroom in a highly respected specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. This role is designed for a teacher who understands that for children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or MLD, the transition through the middle years of primary school is a vital time for building independence, communication, and social resilience.
Job Responsibility:
Adaptive Curriculum Mastery: Bridge the gap between the National Curriculum and the specific developmental levels of your students
Communication Enrichment: Lead a "Total Communication" classroom, modeling the use of Makaton, PECS, and Visual Timetables
Social & Emotional Mentorship: Implement Zones of Regulation or similar frameworks
EHCP Milestone Leadership: Take ownership of student assessments, utilising "small-step" tracking
Sensory Integration: Incorporate Sensory Circuits and "brain breaks" into the daily timetable
Team Direction: Lead a team of Teaching Assistants to deliver high-impact 1:1 interventions
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Knowledge of specialist frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time) or Colourful Semantics
Ability to remain a grounded, co-regulating influence during periods of student distress or behavioural challenge
Desire to work closely with the SENCO, therapists, and families
An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad)
