To support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning to pupils in Key Stage 2. The role involves working with individuals, small groups, or the whole class to help pupils achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging lessons across Key Stage 2 subjects
Support pupils’ understanding through targeted group work and one-to-one interventions
Reinforce learning objectives during independent and group tasks
Help maintain a positive, well-organized classroom environment conducive to learning
Support children of varying abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), or Gifted and Talented pupils
Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, and good learning habits
Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher
Promote good behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Prepare, organize, and adapt teaching materials and resources to support learning activities
Assist in the use of ICT and other learning tools
Support practical activities in subjects such as science, art, and PE
Help with record keeping, assessments, and displays of pupil work
Supervise pupils in the classroom, playground, dining hall, and during school trips as required
Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to support pupils’ individual needs
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews as required
Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
Requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above)
Experience working with primary-aged children
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have:
Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (TA qualification)
Experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional learning needs
Understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and assessment framework
