Haywards Farm School is looking for a passionate KS1/KS2 Teacher to join our small, nurturing school. This is not a typical classroom role. You'll teach a high-quality, mainstream curriculum to children with a range of SEN and SEMH needs — adapting your approach within a trauma-informed, attachment-aware framework so that every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our classes are small, our adult-to-child ratios are high, and our aspirations for every child are higher still. You'll work alongside therapists, specialist support staff, and external professionals as part of a truly multidisciplinary team.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons across KS1 and KS2, adapted to meet each child where they are
Build strong, trusting relationships that support emotional regulation and readiness to learn
Use trauma-informed and attachment-aware practices as the foundation of your classroom approach
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff, and external professionals
Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress — both academic and social
Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture rooted in wellbeing and resilience
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching within KS1 and/or KS2
A solid understanding of the national curriculum
A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting pupils with additional needs
Patience, empathy, and resilience in your approach
Openness to developing your practice around therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches
Strong communication skills with colleagues and families, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team
