As the Korea Statutory and Tax Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring end-to-end Tax, Statutory, and other regulatory compliance for the country and its legal entities. A key part of this role is leading to the preparation of accurate financial statements, income tax filings, indirect tax filings, and other regulatory submissions, as well as managing related audits. You will drive continuous improvement by evaluating and enhancing existing processes, systems, and service models to increase efficiency and strengthen compliance outcomes. The role also contributes significantly to securing government incentives and grants associated with Microsoft’s infrastructure and capacity investments in Korea. The Stat and Tax Controller work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders across statutory, tax, and regulatory matters, including close partnership and collaboration with Microsoft Stat & Tax communities.

Ensures the integrity of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement in accordance with both US GAAP and local GAAP
Manages the accurate and complete preparation of financial statements and related disclosures, income tax returns, VAT filings, and other statutory and tax-related obligations (e.g., acquisition tax, property tax, energy tax, etc.)
Reviews and approves balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, tax payments, and other legal-entity-related items, as applicable
Supports invoicing and accounting model changes related to tax or local business requirements in collaboration with relevant teams
Manages cash management and cash flow forecasting, including coordinating funding plans with the Treasury team
Secures maximum government incentives and grants related to Microsoft’s infrastructure and capacity for investments in Korea
Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors in coordination with key stakeholders
Leads audits conducted by local tax authorities and other government agencies in partnership with relevant teams (e.g., regional tax team, customs compliance team)
Ensure compliance with local transfer pricing documentation and reporting requirements
Supports other reporting requirements such as payroll-related obligations, statistical surveys, data requests, bank reporting, inspections, subsidies, and grant applications
Supports the establishment, closure, or integration of legal entities, including acquisitions
Identifies opportunities to standardize and automate statutory and tax processes, leveraging AI and digital tools to reduce manual workload and enhance resource effectiveness, in partnership with relevant Tax, Stat, and external teams

Requirements
8+ years of experience in finance positions
Ability to operate and thrive in a fluid/uncertain environment
