Knowledge Broker plays a key role in connecting industry, government and University of Tasmania researchers to ensure research is relevant, practical and delivers real‑world impact. The role builds and strengthens partnerships, supports collaborative projects, and contributes to monitoring and evaluating the Centre’s impact nationwide. The position involves regular intrastate travel, some interstate travel, and time spent working in the field.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design and delivery of a researcher-industry engagement strategy for the Centre
Coordinate multi-project program activities by monitoring work plans, supporting the achievement of milestones, and helping maintain strategic interactions across related projects, work groups and stakeholders
Facilitate the transfer of new technologies, information and improved practices through well-designed engagement programs, developing new approaches to address complex industry engagement challenges
Build and maintain strong industry, government and research partnerships, providing authoritative insights on emerging engagement needs to inform the Centre’s planning and decision-making
Produce high-quality reports, briefings and knowledge-translation materials including, digital content and event resources, in collaboration with Centre management, researchers, AFWI Headquarters and the UTAS communications team
Requirements:
High level understanding of forestry and forest products industries and commercial practices across the supply chain
Experience in program coordination activities such as planning and tracking progress, supporting project leads, and ensuring integration across workstreams to support the delivery of milestones and maintain overall program coherence
Experience in building and sustaining industry knowledge and networks for definition of key challenges and opportunities that will lead to adoption of improved or better-informed practices
Demonstrated ability to apply contemporary engagement methods in the design and/or delivery of projects involving research and/or other industry development activities
Effective liaison, negotiation and collaboration with industry stakeholders and project partners to build trust and encourage reciprocity
