Working alongside the Chef Manager, you will be essential in overseeing the smooth operations of the Galiwinku Miyalk Kitchen. Your leadership will directly empower the community by providing vital employment and training opportunities while delivering nutritious, high-quality meals.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, mentor, and support kitchen and café staff
Oversee daily operations, ensuring a clean, organised, and well-stocked kitchen, facilities, and equipment
Mentor and train local community members and participants in culinary skills and food preparation
Manage catering contracts, including NDIS and Bukmak trades, and respond to contract feedback
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement
Ensure strict adherence to food safety, health standards, and NT Government sanitation regulations
Requirements:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (desirable)
Previous experience in kitchen or hospitality supervision
Confident cooking skills and the ability to produce consistent, quality meals
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
Reliable, organised, and committed to community-focused service
Ability to travel via unsealed roads and small light aircraft (must meet aviation safety weight requirements of under 140kg)
Flexibility to work shifts that may include split shifts, rostered hours, or overtime
