Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead the back-of-house operations at Bob and Berts. The ideal candidate has a passion for food, coffee and delivering top-notch customer service, and can manage a small team while maintaining high standards of food quality and speed. You will take ownership of the kitchen, including inventory, staff scheduling, menu development, and food safety, ensuring a '5-star' experience for our customers.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring prompt service and high-quality food preparation, especially during busy breakfast and lunch shifts
  • Prepare and cook menu items (e.g., breakfasts, pastries, burgers) according to recipes, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation
  • Oversee food inventory, place orders with suppliers, manage deliveries, and conduct weekly stocktakes to minimise waste and ensure profitability
  • Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen personnel (cooks/porters), creating schedules that maximise productivity during peak hours
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., Allergen Management, Food Hygiene Level 2/3) and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
  • Collaborate with the manager to suggest new food items, specials, and seasonal offerings to enhance the menu
  • Communicate effectively with front of house staff to ensure seamless coordination between the kitchen and the counter

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Cafe Chef, or similar role in a high-volume café/restaurant environment
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, costings, and kitchen staff
  • Essential: Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Hands-on leader, calm under pressure, and highly organised
  • Ability to work weekends and mornings
  • Right to work in the UK
