Job Description:

Are you a focused and motivated individual with a talent for boosting pupil progress? We are seeking a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant with a strong background in delivering interventions to join our team in Knowsley. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the academic challenge of the upper primary years (Years 3-6). You will play a vital role in helping pupils master complex concepts, bridge attainment gaps, and build the resilience needed for their transition to secondary school. We welcome applications from experienced TAs, graduates, or those with relevant tutoring/coaching backgrounds.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead small group sessions in Literacy and Numeracy, specifically designed to raise attainment for pupils working below age-related expectations
  • Support Year 6 pupils with booster sessions and practice papers, helping to reduce exam anxiety and improve core subject confidence
  • Work closely with pupils with SEN or those requiring additional challenge, adapting classroom materials to ensure the curriculum is accessible yet ambitious
  • Use school data and teacher feedback to identify learning gaps and deliver bespoke catch-up sessions
  • Foster a mature and focused classroom environment, encouraging independence and a growth mindset among older primary pupils
  • Assist the Class Teacher with administrative tasks and resource preparation to ensure lessons run smoothly and effectively

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months working with children, ideally within a Key Stage 2 setting or a formal tutoring/caregiving capacity
  • Previous experience or a strong understanding of how to lead small group learning is highly desirable
  • Confident communication skills to engage older children and provide clear feedback to teaching staff and parents
  • Strong competency in English and Maths to effectively support the KS2 curriculum
