In your role as the Key Account Manager, you will manage and grow a portfolio of key grower accounts across the Burdekin region, balancing strong relationship management with a proactive approach to business development. You’ll spend time on the road connecting with growers, identifying new opportunities, and bringing new business on board, while also strengthening and retaining existing partnerships. You will be a key outward facing representative, engaging with large growers and industry influencers. Using your commercial acumen, you’ll guide conversations around pricing, market trends and cashflow options, positioning the business as the preferred partner. Working closely with the Grower Marketing team, you’ll play an important role in driving growth and expanding market presence. Job Responsibility:
Lead the growth of the business by attracting new growers and developing strong relationships with high-value clients through targeted and strategic engagement
Manage key grower accounts by delivering exceptional service, building trust, and providing information on sugar pricing, cashflow options, and related opportunities
Build and strengthen industry connections by working closely with growers, advisors, and stakeholders, and representing the company at events and forums
Promote a safe and responsible workplace by following health, safety, and environmental procedures, and proactively reporting hazards or incidents
Contribute to business success by supporting planning and budgeting activities, managing grower-related risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations
Requirements:
Demonstrates advanced commercial account and relationship management capabilities
Brings 7+ years’ experience in a similar role, with a proven ability to win new business
Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills across a range of stakeholders
Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture, business, finance, or economics (or equivalent practical experience)
Is proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and experienced in using CRM systems (preferably Salesforce)
Possesses a valid Queensland “C” Class Driver’s Licence
Nice to have:
Has completed formal sales training (internal or external) and applies structured sales methodologies
Brings experience within the sugar industry or a related agricultural sector
Has a strong understanding of commodity markets, including futures, hedging, and pricing strategies
