Job Description

Key Account Manager role focused on commercial/institutional energy efficiency, meeting sales targets, building customer relationships, and implementing energy conservation projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Meet or exceed assigned Commercial and/or Affordable Housing sales targets
  • Work independently to find/deliver technical solutions and complete custom energy efficiency calculations
  • Establish and build operational and technical relationships with customers
  • Establish alliances with business partners
  • Proactive outreach to assigned accounts and ability to conduct site walk-throughs
  • Assist in identifying key threats and opportunities in program delivery
  • Provide market intelligence and insights to the internal program design team
  • Develop, update, and execute annual account plans
  • Provide accurate and timely personal outlooks and forecasts
  • Work cooperatively with team members and cross-boundary colleagues
  • Timely implementation of projects into DSM tracking systems
  • Attend and present energy efficiency programs at customer meetings, trade shows, and events

Requirements

  • Related University degree in engineering (preferably in mechanical, chemical or electrical Engineering)
  • Minimum four or more years of project engineering or project management and sales experience in commercial sector environments
  • For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years of related experience is required
  • Experience with energy management, demand side management, and sustainability principles
  • Exceptional understanding of commercial HVAC systems and design
  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, and able to operate independently but work with a team
  • Customer and results focused
  • Proven skills in leading and influencing without explicit authority
  • Proven time management skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects
  • Superior written and verbal communication ability and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Confident presenter and public speaker
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving skills, and negotiation skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a responsible driving record
  • Some knowledge of building sciences and new construction in relation to the Ontario Building Code

  • Membership in Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
  • Energy Management certification (such as Certified Energy Manager or Energy Manager in Training)
  • Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
  • Operational knowledge or Design experience in HVAC, Boilers, and BAS control systems, building construction
