The Music Teacher at MVRCS leads the music education program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Rooted in the Core Knowledge curriculum, the music program emphasizes musical literacy, performance, composition, and artistic growth. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, structure, and passion to a well-established music curriculum and contribute to a strong culture of learning and collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high-quality music instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum
Plan and teach lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes
Monitor student growth through assessments, progress reports, and report cards
Collaborate regularly with fellow Specials department staff and maintain open communication with the Assistant Director
Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment by consistently applying the school’s assertive discipline model
Participate in all required staff meetings and professional development activities
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by school leadership
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in music, Music Education, or a closely related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to assess needs, solve problems, and implement effective solutions
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Familiarity with educational policies, state and federal regulations, and MVRCS protocols
Effective teaching, collaboration, coaching, and leadership skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Knowledge of music education best practices and lesson design for diverse learners
Ability to align instruction with district goals and student needs
Successful completion of required MTEL exams within the first year of employment
