Job Description

We are currently seeking candidates for a Junior Staff Accountant role with a highly respected financial services organization located in Boston, MA. The Junior Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, assisting with financial reporting activities, and supporting billing and invoice-related processes within a fast-paced corporate environment. The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and exceptional attention to detail. This is a 6-month contract position paying between $24-$25/hour (depending on experience). This role supports a hybrid work model in Boston, Massachusetts, consisting of 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home/week.

Job Responsibility

  • Support daily accounting operations, including financial record maintenance and reconciliations
  • Assist with general ledger activities, account analysis, and supporting documentation preparation
  • Participate in month-end closing activities and financial reporting processes
  • Review invoices, billing documentation, and accrual-related data for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with financial operations projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams to support business initiatives
  • Support audit preparation and additional ad hoc accounting projects as needed
  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure accuracy across accounting activities
  • Provide additional support as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–2 years of accounting, finance, billing, or related professional experience
  • Understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and overall Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
  • Prior experience within financial services or corporate environments preferred

  • Assisting the Assistant Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supervising other areas within the Finance Department under the direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, including payroll, accounts payable, income audit, and general cashiering in accordance with all related local and corporate policies and procedures
