Job Description:

Entry level management position focusing on successfully accomplishing daily objectives in the kitchen. Assists in leading staff while personally assisting in all areas of the kitchen, including food production, purchasing and kitchen sanitation. Position contributes to ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards
  • Perform culinary duties during high demand times
  • Oversee production and preparation of culinary items
  • Ensure clean and sanitary work areas
  • Coordinate service timing with Restaurant and Banquet departments
  • Comply with loss prevention policies
  • Improve service performance
  • Lead shifts while preparing food items
  • Prepare and cook foods of all types
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks
  • Check quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Create decorative food displays
  • Supervise daily shift operations
  • Ensure proper supplies, equipment and uniforms
  • Monitor staffing levels
  • Participate in employee performance appraisal
  • Handle employee questions and concerns
  • Conduct training
  • Participate in department meetings
  • Support new menus and promotions
  • Handle guest problems and complaints
  • Manage food and supply inventories

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • Food handling and sanitation knowledge
  • Culinary production and preparation skills
  • Kitchen management experience
  • Staff supervision capabilities
  • Food quality control expertise
