Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Junior Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer to join our busy civil litigation client. You will work under the guidance of a senior solicitor, alongside three fee earners, and be supported by four case handlers. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your litigation skills in a collaborative and supportive environment while working on a wide range of contentious and defended landlord and tenant matters.

Job Responsibility

  • Undertake fee-earning work with supervision, contributing to departmental cases
  • Build technical expertise in managing defended and complex cases, particularly fast track and multi-track claims
  • Draft legal documents, ensuring compliance with court directions and orders
  • Progress towards independently managing smaller matters while assisting on larger cases
  • Liaise with clients, defendants, courts, solicitors, and managing agents
  • Keep clients informed on case progress
  • Issue possession claims via Possession Claims Online
  • Prepare paper applications for court (manual possession, accelerated, and warrant applications)
  • Draft notices seeking possession
  • Prepare instructions for advocates and counsel
  • Maintain and update case management spreadsheets

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of landlord and tenant law
  • Basic understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation processes
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise under pressure
  • Confident communicator, both in a small team and directly with clients/third parties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • Adaptable, creative, and eager to learn
