Job Description:

At Bison Transport, our product teams operate using the Product Operating Model—a framework underpinned by Agile methodologies to deliver innovative solutions that drive customer and business value. As a Junior Scrum Master, you will support one or more product teams by ensuring they follow Scrum principles and Agile best practices. Your primary responsibility will be facilitating Agile rituals, maintaining team focus on sprint goals, and helping teams utilize Agile tools effectively. This role emphasizes foundational Scrum Master responsibilities, focused on guiding teams through Agile practices, ensuring process adherence, and fostering continuous improvement. Unlike senior levels, the Scrum Master role does not include people management duties or coaching across teams but instead focuses on the operational aspects of Scrum.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist product teams in conducting key Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, sprint reviews, demos, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
  • Ensure the proper use of Agile tools like Jira and ClickUp for backlog management, progress tracking, and sprint planning
  • Help teams define clear and achievable sprint goals aligned with product roadmaps
  • Guide the team in breaking down stories into manageable tasks that are well-defined and understood
  • Act as a facilitator for Agile practices, ensuring the team stays focused on its ceremonies and sprint goals
  • Support the team's use of Agile tools to manage workflows, track progress, and deliver value efficiently
  • Encourage self-organization within the team, helping members take responsibility for their tasks and outcomes
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and accountable environment within the team
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by helping the team identify areas for enhancement during retrospectives
  • Track basic Agile metrics (e.g., burndown charts, velocity) and assist the team in using this data to improve performance
  • Provide basic guidance and coaching to new teams or individuals, ensuring they understand and apply core Scrum principles
  • Act as a point of communication between the product team and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on sprint goals and deliverables
  • Maintain transparent communication with the product leadership on team progress, risks, and potential blockers
  • Foster collaboration within the product team and between adjacent functions to ensure feedback is integrated into the product backlog

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Scrum Master, project coordination, or team facilitation role, or equivalent academic or project experience with Agile practices
  • Foundational understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) gained through coursework, certification, or hands-on project experience
  • Basic experience facilitating project or Scrum ceremonies and supporting teams in Agile environments
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Adaptability to change

Nice to have:

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification

What we offer:
  • Supportive team that provides coaching and training to help develop your skills and progress your career
  • Dispersed work environments that promote a healthy work-life balance
  • Meaningful and impactful work and projects with an essential service provider
  • Engaging Wellness Program & extracurricular sports teams
