MLC is seeking an inspiring and experienced educator to lead the delivery of Mathematics across our Junior School (Prep/Foundation – Year 6). This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative leader who is passionate about evidence based teaching and improving student outcomes through innovation, data-informed practice, and professional collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the development and implementation of an engaging, evidence-based Mathematics program from Prep to Year 6
Collaborate with the Head of Junior School and Section Coordinators to drive consistent, high-quality teaching and learning practices
Use data to inform instructional decisions and support staff to enhance student outcomes
Mentor and support Junior School teachers in the effective delivery of the Mathematics curriculum
Build teacher capability through professional learning, classroom coaching, and collaborative planning
Lead the analysis of student performance data, including NAPLAN, to inform curriculum refinement
Coordinate Mathematics-related programs, competitions, and extension or support initiatives
Manage Mathematics resources and budget to enable innovative and engaging learning experiences
Foster a positive learning culture grounded in curiosity, confidence, and collaboration
Requirements:
Proven leadership experience in curriculum development and pedagogy, ideally within a Junior School setting
Strong understanding of evidence-based teaching practices in Mathematics
Demonstrated ability to use data to drive improved learning outcomes
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents
A collaborative and reflective approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
Appropriate teaching qualifications and current VIT registration
Understanding of and commitment to the Victorian Child Safe Standards and MLC’s Child Safe Program
