Role: Part Time (0.7 FTE) | Ongoing position commencing Term 3. Job Responsibility:
Providing support to students with diverse learning needs
Explicit instruction in a small withdrawal class (language/numeracy /literacy based)
Leading and directing Education Support Staff to assist with student support and intervention
Collaborating with subject teachers to integrate required adjustments or modify curriculum
Developing Personal/Individual Learning Programs (P/ILP) for relevant students
Leading and facilitating Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings for relevant students to align with the requirements of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) process for students with disability
Providing resources and advice for teachers regarding teaching strategies and educational materials to promote student learning
Liaising with parents of students with additional learning needs and reporting to parents on a regular basis
Maintaining up to date student records and data entry
Contributing to the professional development of the Learning Diversity department and Junior School staff
Planning and delivering highly engaging lessons in collaboration with members of the teaching team
Developing a culture of high expectations for all students
Providing feedback to students and parents via the Continuous Reporting system
Using data to analyse the progress of students, inform teaching practice, and to assess the efficacy of teaching and learning strategies
Working with colleagues to embed more effective teaching strategies into the classes
Developing strong relationships with colleagues, students and parents
Contributing to departmental meetings, reviews and initiatives, as required
Attending various Information Evenings and Parent-Teacher-Student conferences, as required
Engaging in professional learning and professional networks in the school and the wider community
Supporting the wellbeing of students in their class, subject or wellbeing groups
Being responsible for understanding and applying the MLC Child Safe Program, including identifying and reporting risks, identifying child abuse indicators, and internal and external reporting obligations
Engaging in co-curricular activities, in particular House events
Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in student learning and wellbeing
Effective planning, organisational and time management skills
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching practices
Ability to use data to refine instructional approach and maximise student progress
Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality
Appropriate qualification and recent teaching experience in Learning Diversity and EAL (Primary)
Experience with Literacy and Numeracy interventions, such as Multilit and Language Lift
Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and subject specific qualifications
Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice
