Applications are being accepted for the position of Junior Plan Examiner within the Corporation of the City of North Bay’s Building Department. Under the direction of the Plan Examiner, receives and reviews building permit applications, construction plans, specifications and documents to ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code and other laws and/or by-laws, issues building permits on behalf of the Chief Building Official and responds to enquiries regarding the Ontario Building Code and Municipal by-laws.

Requirements:
Two-year post-secondary diploma in architectural, engineering or building technology programs or other relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum six (6) months previous relevant experience
Must possess or in process of obtaining the following Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing BCIN qualification requirements for building officials: General Legal and House
Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
Ability to read and interpret design and construction drawings
Proficient in computers including Microsoft office and on-line applications
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact
Excellent organizational, customer service and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Superior customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
