Job Description

We are looking for a Junior / Associate Business Analyst to join our team in Zurich, supporting the delivery of tax-related functionalities within a leading core banking platform. This role would suit either someone with existing business analytics experience or someone looking to move into this area. Our team works on both domestic tax regimes (e.g. Germany, Switzerland) and international regulatory frameworks such as FATCA, CRS, QI, and others. You will work closely with other Business Analysts and Software Engineers and gradually build strong expertise in banking taxation and regulatory reporting. This role combines business analysis and functional understanding with exposure to technical topics. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who is curious, analytical, and motivated to grow at the intersection of finance, regulation, and technology.

Job Responsibility

  • Analyze local and international tax publications, regulatory updates, and client requirements
  • Drive requirement engineering and draft clear, detailed specifications for implementation
  • Collaborate closely with developers and QA engineers throughout the software lifecycle
  • Maintain and evolve tax-related functionalities within Avaloq’s core platform
  • Provide expert input to consulting, implementation, and sales activities
  • Contribute to high-quality documentation in collaboration with technical writers
  • Gradually build a solid understanding of the end-to-end core banking solution
  • Maintain continuous awareness of changes in tax legislation relevant to our clients

Requirements

  • Experience of tax or regulatory topics (e.g. German or Swiss tax, FATCA, CRS, QI)
  • A degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Finance, Business Informatics, IT, Law, or a comparable field
  • Native or fluent German and English, both spoken and written
  • Interest in banking, taxation, and regulatory topics
  • Technical skills to read code, understand logic flows, and write SQL queries on relational databases

Nice to have

  • First experience (internship, student job, thesis, or junior role) as a Business Analyst, Functional Consultant, or similar
  • Knowledge of financial products or banking processes
  • Experience with core banking systems, exposure to Avaloq or completion of ACP certifications
