The Product Stewardship and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) team is responsible for evaluating the environmental impacts of the company and its products, through recognized and standardized assessments like Corporate/Product Carbon Footprints (focused on greenhouse gas emissions) or more general Life Cycle Assessments (for multiple environmental impacts). As part of the team, you will be responsible of collecting data, calculating and communicating the environmental impacts of the products put on the market to answer regulatory requirements and to show our improvements in sustainability. This job is an opportunity to learn about LCA and how it is applied in the minerals industry, as well as how the results are leveraged in a company setting. It also provides a unique position to see how a hard-to-abate sector like the lime industry can reduce its environmental footprint.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform LCAs across the whole portfolio of Lhoist Products, with an initial focus on the French market
  • Collecting data on environmental inputs and outputs of our processes such as raw materials, energy, emissions
  • Modelling and transforming the environmental data into environmental impacts using LCA software
  • Analysing and reporting on the impacts for internal and external communication
  • Maintaining the Carbon Footprint Assessment project of the Lhoist Group including Lhoist France
  • Coordinating the data collection with internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the output results are reliable
  • Researching and/or modelling additional emission factors to extend the scope of calculation
  • Maintain internal documentation and participate in 3rd party review processes
  • Writing and updating reports explaining the methodology used in assessments compliant with relevant standards
  • Presenting the methodology, data and results to external verifiers to obtain certified LCA results
  • Follow-up on regulatory changes or existing/new voluntary schemes relevant to Lhoist activities which require LCA results using market intelligence tools

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering and/or background in chemistry
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven mindset
  • Solid knowledge of Excel and/or PowerBI tools
  • Prior knowledge of LCA and experience with an LCA software are considered as big plus
  • Eager to learn and acquire new competencies and knowledge and quickly applying these on day to day
  • Raise the bar always delivering quality work, being open to exchange feedback and challenging others
  • Very good communicator with good presentation skills
  • Ability to foster teamwork and to develop strong relationships based on trust, being a reliable partner respecting deadlines and commitments
  • Professional proficiency in English is a must
  • French is a competitive advantage
