As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will mainly focus on commercial contracting and day-to-day legal work. You will report to the Commercial Counsel Lead and be part of Mollie’s wider Legal Team. You will play a crucial role in professionalising our business foundation and supporting Mollie’s sustainable growth across Europe. Working cross-functionally from our Amsterdam HQ, you will manage your own projects, drive product launches, partnerships, and expansion.
Job Responsibility:
Commercial Contracting: Launch new products, payment methods and commercial deals
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers
Contribute to Mollie’s expansion throughout Europe with a focus on product, commercial deals and new licenses
Manage disputes and claims from merchants and suppliers
Support the development of legal operations to increase the efficiency and scalability of our commercial legal support
Advise the business on a variety of legal topics: from corporate housekeeping and IP protection to financial regulatory requirements and handling fraudsters
Deal with external authorities
Empower the business by providing internal training on legal aspects
Requirements:
An advanced law degree from a European University
2–4 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house department
Passion for drafting and negotiating complex contracts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work cross-functionally
Flexibility to prioritize in a fast-paced, international environment
High degree of accountability with an eye for detail
Enthusiastic, resourceful approach
Willingness to jump in and do whatever needs to be done to drive change
Nice to have:
Familiarity with payment or financial services industries, particularly within high-growth or regulated companies
Speak a second European language with business proficiency
