Job Description:

A respected and well-established law firm is seeking Junior Legal Costs Assistant to join our busy and supportive Cost team. This vacancy is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy in legal billing and costing. This role would suit someone who has a keen interest in Law Costs and wishes to pursue it as a career as full comprehensive training will be given.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare solicitor/client cost schedules and detailed bills
  • Assist departments in preparing schedules to support billable work
  • Prepare statements of costs and bills for submission to court
  • Provide guidance on cost estimates
  • Liaise with the Accounts team, fee earners, and secretaries to ensure accuracy in costing and billing
  • Manage your own time efficiently to support multiple departments
  • Attend meetings with fee earners as needed
  • Comply with the firm's standard procedures and billing practices

Requirements:

  • Strong IT skills, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Confidence in reporting to senior management
  • Previous experience in a legal or law firm environment is an advantage
  • Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent)
  • Previous law firm experience is essential
