Job Description:

This exciting, unique role will require the Junior Install Technician to work as a key member of the installation team on customer sites throughout the UK and worldwide in all aspects of constructing our multi-layered shielded rooms. Typical installation sites are medical facilities, research institutes and universities with install times varying from several weeks to months depending on the size of the project.

Job Responsibility:

  • This is a hands-on role, working as part of the installation team constructing our shielded rooms – use of hand tools/power tools required
  • You will be working with pre-prepared aluminium framework, metal panels & plastic cladding
  • Should be able to deliver high quality workmanship and finishing, to tight tolerances & specifications
  • Assist in all aspects of the installation sequence
  • To represent MSL core values and professionalism at customer sites
  • To assist with general duties at MSL headquarters during any periods between site installations

Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to work away from home for extended periods in both the UK and abroad
  • Skill and understand of using manual and power tools such as hex keys, screwdrivers, power drills, etc.
  • Must be team player and able to positively interact with others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full driving licence & valid passport
  • Clean DBS history
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Professional manner and appearance. Good housekeeping skills
  • Flexibility to work extended/unsociable hours if required
  • Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation and determination

Nice to have:

  • Plumbing or electrical installation apprentice / assistant background ready to move up to next level
  • Shop fitting experience or similar skills
  • Sheet metal experience
  • Skills in construction finishing – silicone sealant / mastic or similar
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes or an engineering background
  • Good knowledge of current health & safety practices
  • Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise own workload well
