Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Junior HR Advisor to join the team at Amegreen. This is a hands-on role that sits at the heart of our people function, giving you real exposure to the full spectrum of HR, from employee relations and policy development to payroll support and onboarding. You will be the first point of contact for employee queries, manage your own caseload, and play a vital role in keeping our people data and processes running smoothly. If you are early in your HR career and eager to develop, this role will give you the breadth, autonomy and mentorship to thrive.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee HR queries, resolving issues independently or escalating to the HR Manager where required
  • Manage low-level Employee Relations cases including disciplinaries, sickness absence, and performance management
  • Maintain accurate HR records and provide regular reporting on headcount, turnover, and absence trends
  • Support the payroll process by collating statutory leave, leavers, and promotions data
  • Administer employee benefits including pension, life assurance, healthcare, and Cycle to Work schemes
  • Ensure new starters are safely recruited in line with Children Care Regulations 2015 and Keeping Children Safe in Education
  • Assist in developing HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and organisational objectives
  • Minute meetings and provide general support to the HR Manager including drafting letters and preparing documentation

Requirements

  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively and work accurately at speed
  • Exemplary attention to detail and a high standard of written and verbal communication
  • Proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude, able to use initiative and work autonomously
  • Discretion, tact, and sensitivity, with a clear understanding of the need for confidentiality
  • Confident in building effective professional relationships across all levels of the business
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Genuine interest in HR as a profession and a desire to grow as a subject matter expert
  • A Diploma in HR or equivalent HR qualification
  • A minimum of one year of HR administrative experience
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment managing competing deadlines
  • Experience working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties

What we offer

  • Life insurance (death in service) – 4x basic annual salary
  • Health cash plan (Health Shield) (after probation/eligibility applies)
  • Free holiday accommodation – company holiday home on south coast
  • Discounts – Blue Light Card + local partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – free, confidential 24/7 support helpline
  • Referral bonus scheme – financial incentives for successful referrals (criteria apply)
  • Company pension with award winning provider and enhanced employer contributions
  • Company sick pay scheme (after 6 months’ service)
  • Electric car scheme + Cycle to Work – salary sacrifice options
  • Recognition – Employee of the Month + long service awards
  • Discounted driving lessons with local instructor
