Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) is seeking a Junior Geochemist to support our mining and environmental consulting services out of Sudbury, ON. Job Responsibility:
Assist with field monitoring programs individually or as part of a field team, including environmental studies (e.g., water sampling, geochemical sampling, hydrology, and hydrogeology) at local and remote sites
Use geochemical principles to perform data analyses of rock, soil, and water samples – including using geochemical and/or statistical models – to understand long-term water quality trends
Identify potential risks associated with mining activities to guide development of mitigation measures
Prepare reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions to communicate findings and recommendations to senior geochemists and project engineers
Requirements:
A bachelor degree in Geology, Earth Science, or Environmental Geoscience specializing in Geochemistry or equivalent
specialization in Hydrogeology/Contaminant Transport is also an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with graduate degrees
0-3 years of relevant experience or professional internships
Eligibility for registration as a professional (e.g., EIT or GIT)
Availability for field work and business travel, including to remote locations
Effective written and verbal communication
Valid driver’s license allowing for unrestricted driving of cars, vans, or small trucks, (e.g., Class 5 or Class G in Ontario)
Ability to acquire a valid international passport

Experience driving pickup trucks and ATV’s with a clean 5-year driving record
Experience outdoors and knowledge or experience with field sampling for surface water, groundwater, soil, rockfill and bedrock
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French and Spanish language skills are an asset)
Familiarity with or interest in geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench, and other software tools like Python, R, GIS, database software, Power BI, Goldsim, Leapfrog, Openground, and/or statistical packages
