Job Description

Gunzilla Games is looking for a Gameplay Programmer. In this position, you will collaborate with Games Designers to develop and support various gameplay features (e.g. movement, shooting), and gameplay entities (e.g. kill zones, rockets, bombs) for our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Battle Royale 2.0 third-person shooter, available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S and PC now.

Job Responsibility

  • Design and develop the core gameplay features and systems for our game
  • Work closely with artists and designers to iterate on the gameplay mechanics
  • Contribute ideas and feedback toward all aspects of the game
  • Maintain and optimize the existing game systems
  • Document and extend the documentation on the gameplay features and systems
  • Self-manage programming tasks and coordinate them with the production team

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional experience/knowledge of C++
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Strong 3D math knowledge (vectors, matrices, Linear Algebra)
  • Experience working in the Games Dev industry
  • Can self-manage tasks and complete features from scratch
  • Passion for playing and making games
  • Strong understanding of software engineering practices

Nice to have

  • Experience in Network programming
  • Experience in Multithreading and parallel programming
  • Knowledge of OS internals (process/thread/memory management)
  • Understanding of how CPUs and GPUs work
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently

  • Design and maintain efficient systems for gameplay AI, animation, character physics, and character spawning in UE5
  • Translate gameplay requirements into technical solutions, using C++ and UE5’s blueprint systems for data-driven development
  • Write well-optimised, thoroughly documented code that meets established coding standards
  • Take full or shared ownership of features and systems, from ideation and planning through to support and bug fixing
  • Serve as a point of contact for your area of expertise
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimise code for multi-platform stability and efficiency
  • Build strong relationships with team members and cross-departmental colleagues to ensure seamless cooperation
  • Follow best practices for source control (Perforce preferred), ensuring build stability and multi-platform compilation success
  • Review code changes with a focus on quality, while providing and receiving constructive feedback in a collaborative and respectful manner
  • Lead technical discussions and aligns engineers and stakeholders on approach
