We are currently seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team working at a government organisation. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of high-end software engineering and scientific research, providing technical solutions for a high-profile division. The Role This position is designed for an engineer with 1-2 years of experience-someone who has moved past the 'Associate' level and is looking for more autonomy and technical complexity. You will be a "technical linchpin" within the group, contributing to scientific programming, DevOps tasks, and the maintenance of mission-critical information systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Build and secure front- and back-end applications using modern best practices
  • Support the division by undertaking specialised programming and data-focused tasks
  • Manage and deploy services within Microsoft Azure and support CI/CD workflows
  • Provide high-quality technical advice to the broader team to promote best practice methodologies
  • Ensure the continuous operation and performance of high-profile information systems
  • Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to translate complex requirements into elegant code
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern front-end and back-end tech stack
  • 1-2 years of commercial experience (stepping up from an Associate level)
  • Practical familiarity with Microsoft Azure services
  • A deep understanding of modern security standards in software development
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and explain technical solutions to non-technical peers
